Rocketry Launch – April 2015

September 7, 2015 in Rocketry Project Group by Benjamin Cammett

Late in April 2015 were the certification flights. Launch was with URRG (Upstate Research Rocketry Group) in Potter, NY. Cloudy day, but plenty of members progressed as well as welcoming new members! Yuri’s Night 2015

April 7, 2015 in News, Yuri's Night by Andrew Dianetti

UB-SEDS is pleased to announce Yuri’s Night Buffalo 2015, which will take place on Saturday, April 11, at the Pearl Street Grill and Brewery.  Yuri’s Night is the “world’s space party” – a night in which we celebrate our accomplishments in spaceflight, and look forward to those of the future.

The evening will feature a talk by Bill Suitor, a former Bell Aerosystems Rocketbelt Test Pilot.  Mr. Suitor was the most experienced pilot of the Rocketbelt.  He flew and tested numerous versions of rocket flying machines, including the Flying Seat and Apollo Lunar POGO, a device intended to carry astronauts off the moon should the lunar module ascent engine fail.  Some of his most famous flights include the Opening Ceremony of the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, and as Sean Connery’s stunt double in the James Bond movie 007 Thunderball.
